HOW IT BEGAN

It was the year 2000, and Shannon, an avid fan and collector of streetwear/skate/surf brands, aspired to produce top-notch t-shirts unavailable in the local market thus far. Something about the apparel that he owned motivated Shannon to aim only for t-shirts of the highest quality. How the t-shirt fitted on a body, how well the printing method brought the best out of the design, and the intricate tailoring of the t-shirt were all key factors in the science of his favorite t-shirts.

After completing his degree in Accounting & Finance, he began the search to create the perfect t-shirt while working a full-time accounting job in the Big4. Months of trial, error, and invaluable experience later, Shannon made his big break at Youth ’09, Malaysia’s largest youth trade show. In just 2 days, he sold 100 blank t-shirts.

With exciting demand, growth, and possibilities looming, Shannon ventured into a business partnership with King, an old high school friend and corporate trainer with a Finance & Marketing degree under his belt, in late 2009. Thus began the journey of brainstorming and strategizing the t-shirt supply industry revolution. The two masterminds spent painstaking months of research and development perfecting the fit, detailing, and quality of the t-shirt to their exact specifications- just the way they wanted it.

2 resignations later, SaltyCustoms was made official. Shannon and King committed themselves fully to the cause of revolutionizing the t-shirt supply industry, striving to uphold their core values of quality, apparel consultancy, and experience in a t-shirt each and every day.

This is merely the beginning. The revolution has only just begun

WHY THE NAME?

The most asked question ever!  For the record, once and for all. During Shannon's high school years, he drew cartoons and one of the characters that stuck with him was called Saltydogg, a dinosaur/dragon looking dog with a pot belly. When naming the business, it was only natural that the intruiging word "Salty" was retained and merged with a self explanatory word, "Customs"

Hence, SaltyCustoms.
